Pursuing a career in housing
Addressing the complexity of moving forward on affordable and sustainable housing in BC requires both research and action across a variety of disciplines. The Pacific Housing Research Network therefore encourages students to consider housing as an area of choice for their career.
Post-secondary partners of the network include researchers working on housing related issues in a number of fields. You will find them in programs in Nursing and Social Work at the University of Victoria, in the School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP) and in Sociology at UBC, in the School of Community, Culture, and Global Studies at UBC Okanagan. Studies in engineering, public administration, business and other fields are also integral to housing and housing policy.
PHRN partners, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), BC Housing, and the BC Non Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA), frequently host paid student internships. Funding for student research on housing is also available through the MITACS Accelerate program.
